Land of the Free
I know people might have different opinions about this, but in the utmost manner of objectivity, looking at this without any emotion at all, This May Be Where We Are Headed:

Yep, the House has passed an Amendment banning Flag-Desecration. No matter how you feel about America, the premise behind this whole thing is utterly ridiculous. I'm not saying we'll be arrested for it, I know they won't be peering into my house to make sure I don't use the flag as a blanket, but the idea of sending someone to jail for what they do to their own cloth... I wonder how many country singers will have to get rid of their wardrobes of American-Flag shirts. Cause those are so ugly it has to be desecration.

I wanted to make a comic, but I'm at work, so this is the best I could do. Sorry for cribbing, and then destroying, your style Evan.

Quick Definition (and Felt)
Rager (pronounced rage-er) = (Houseparty)^Awesome

I'd like to take a moment to talk about Felt by Jim Mahfood. I like Jim Mahfood's work a lot, he does underground-style comics for Image that are really pretty sweet and one of my bigger inspirations lately. I also like the hip-hop of Minneapolis-based Atmosphere a lot. I enjoy Slug (of Atmosphere) and Murs together, and look forward to their upcoming album Felt 2: A Tribute To Lisa Bonet, which Jon Fischer digs already (burn me a copy...).

Felt the comic book is a comic adaptation/companion to the album, but unfortunatly, due to the vagaries of getting one's shit together, the comic and album won't be released together. The comic is already out, the album drops the July 12th. The comic is kinda cool, seems like typical Mahfood short-stories, but is really disjointed. Since each story accompanies a different track, you have a series of 1-3 page stories that jump all over the place. I really think the idea is cool, and would like to see it done more in the future, but without the album the comic really has little meaning.

The best parts are when Mahfood writes short comics about the making of the book. It's these insights that prove the most interesting and entertaining. I enjoyed it, but it needs the album or else feels like reading the diary of someone with massive A.D.D.

In other...stuff... it looks like Pitchfork is enamored with Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah...so I suppose we should all go get a copy now. [update - TinyMixTapes likes it too, so it's semi-underground-official.]

Also, lions saved this young girl from kidnappers, protecting her. wtf? the whole thing is messed up:

"Kidnapping young girls has long been part of the marriage custom in Ethiopia. The United Nations estimates that more than 70 percent of marriages in Ethiopia are by abduction, practiced in rural areas where most of the country’s 71 million people live." - CNN
