It's a Goofy Game
Look, I don't like throwing out these gender-role stereotypes any more than the next man, but the flipping cup game (*rules at bottom of post) is just so goofy, and really it's always seemed that girls were the ones who loved it. Guys I've known usually preferred the streamlined concentration of being hunched over while bouncing quarters into shotglasses much more than standing around waiting to try to hit a plastic cup so that it lands right-side up. There's really not much logic to any of it when you think about it.

Calling it "Flippy-Cup," though, makes it worse x10.

Also interesting, to me at least, is that the two basically biggest gamer webcomics have each started teams or whatever they're called in World of Warcraft with huge groups of their fans and the two comics now battle each other in this game that most webcomics creators seem to play. I like the idea of battling comics teams, and shit, I wish I had a team that could take on LB's. Although my team would have to team up with Evan's in order to contend with the great roiling, undulating masses that read LB's strip. Also, we would have to play a game that was not WoW, and I don't know what that would be. Perhaps Risk: The Game of Global Domination. I am also quite adept at CastleRisk (not shown).

Lastly, it appears SuperDiva (and Super American Spy Identity Leaker) Bob Novak had a breakdown live on CNN last night, swearing and getting pouty and running away in a huff. Hilarious! Carville's reaction to the swearing Novak running off to cry is priceless. He just keeps on smiling and talking and barely seems to notice. Hey Novak, I hear you need to show the WSJ editorial page you're a tough cookie. heehee!

* Definition of Flip Cup - it's a game that involves two teams, one on each side of the table. Each team has the same number of players, and the goal is to have each player in turn flip a plastic cup that is halfway on the table over so that it lands right side up. Each person has to drink a beer before flipping, and so drinking fast comes into play. In the end, the loser team drinks, or gets more beer or I don't know, we'll just say regional variation.

Quarters involves two shot glasses being passed the same way around a circle of people. The goal is to bounce a quarter off of the table into the shot glass and pass the shot glass to the next person quickly. Both shot glasses are racing around the table after each other, and the person holding the shot glass that gets caught has to drink. Games are usually very quick. Also, if you get the quarter in on your first try you can pass the shot glass to anyone on the table. Some people allow a chance for the caught person to escape by giving them one try at bouncing a quarter into the shot glasses stacked together.

This stuff reminds many people of their youth (college) so be careful when discussing it. I don't even want to talk about how one time after I said too much about my previous weekend all of my 30+ year-old co-workers, after a long happy hour, were convinced that the next week they would have a power-hour. Well, I sorta do.
