Another great moment on the phone was when Doug asked me what was going on in America. I said, "Not much. Well, Dick Cheney shot some guy . . . I guess there's that."
Doug: " ....! What?!"
It's weird to be abroad and not get all the news in the same way as you'd get it from home, I remember from Russia.
For Valentine's Day, Doug sent me some good cds, strange Japanese chocolate, these weird socks that make me look like I have Nightcrawler toes (so-- two toes). What a great boyfriend. Also roses! The Eugene flower delivery people brought them at about 9 PM and the address on the card was to "Laura Brandg" which may just be the best misspelling of my last name ever.
